The Mission

At A Joy To Teach, my goal is to provide both educators and learners with evidence-based tools that allow them to thrive in learning environments.

As a researcher with dearly a decade of classroom experience, I can bridge the gap between science and practice.

With my help, you can focus on experiencing the true joy of teaching and of learning.

Meet the Founder

Dr. Allison Fowler, Ph.D.

As a child, like many others, I found learning both joyful and effortless. Led by my natural inclination to explore and understand, I eagerly soaked up all that I could. However, my relationship with learning, particularly in school settings, dimmed considerably in my adolescent years. Although my potential remained, my former eagerness was replaced with frustration and distraction.

My passion for learning was reignited during my undergraduate years at the University of Kentucky, where I earned my B.A. in Elementary Education. While teaching in the classroom felt like home, it was the deeper exploration into research behind the pedagogy that fueled my passion even further. This journey led me to pursue a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at the University of Louisville, where I continued to teach at the college level while honing my skills as a researcher.

Today, as an Assistant Professor and Director of the Undergraduate Psychology Program at Spalding University, I am deeply committed to empowering both teachers and students through the science of learning.

My own personal educational experiences led me to found A Joy to Teach, driven by a desire to share this knowledge in a way that is accessible and impactful. Through innovative methods and personalized approaches, I strive to make learning a joyful and enriching experience for all.

I invite you to connect with me to learn more about how you can transform your teaching or your learning journey!
